There are several resources available to active duty, transitioning military, and veterans. One of the programs I am huge proponent of is SkillBridge. You can find more information on what SkillBridge is by clicking here. I have listed some below but there are other programs if you are unable to attend while transitioning.
Launch Code: Bootcamp
“Students in the bootcamp will learn in-demand skills commonly used at Microsoft including C#, Python, and Azure.” -launchcode.org
Salesforce
Salesforce is very military friendly. Directly from their site: “Salesforce is a software as a service (SaaS) business used by 90% of Fortune 500 companies. Salesforce Military is a Salesforce department for veterans by veterans. We get active military, veterans, and spouses the classes, certifications, and support they need for successful tech careers.”
MSSA
“Microsoft Software and Systems Academy (MSSA) provides transitioning service members, Guard, Reserves and veterans, including those with clearance, with critical career skills required for today’s growing technology industry.” – Military.microsoft.com
Amazon
“The Amazon Global Military Affairs (GMA) team established the Amazon Military SkillBridge (AMSB) program, through the collaborative efforts of the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) by making the company an approved DoD SkillBridge provider.” – amazonmilitaryskillbridge.splashthat.com
Google has some veteran specific programs but not a skillbridge
Vets In Tech
“VetsinTech supports our current and returning veterans with re-integration services, and by connecting them to the national technology ecosystem. VIT is committed to bringing together a tech-specific network, resources, and programs for our veterans interested in Education, Entrepreneurship, and Employment – the 3E’s!” -Vetsintech.co
Syracuse University: Institute for Veterans and Military Families
“Onward to Opportunity (O2O) is a free career training program that provides professional certification and employee support services to transitioning service members, veterans and military spouses. ” – ivmf.syracuse.edu
